Oscar Wilde

At 10 I read a poem written by him

Never love anyone who treats you like you are ordinary ~Oscar Wilde

At 14 I enacted one of his plays

“What of Art?
-It is a malady.
-An Illusion.
-The fashionable substitute for Belief.
–You are a sceptic.
-Never! Scepticism is the beginning of Faith.
–What are you?
-To define is to limit.”

—“We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars”

—“Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth.”

—“Men marry because they are tired; women, because they are curious: both are disappointed.”

—“A man’s face is his autobiography. A woman’s face is her work of fiction.”

—“No man is rich enough to buy back his past.”
