The Moon 🌘

stories of wolf and the moon

A Native American Legend: Tale Weaver-The Moon

Not long ago the Moon had a lover with whom she lived in the Spirit world.

Every night, they would wander the skies together.

A spirit called Trickster was jealous and wanted the moon for himself.

He told her lover to come to Earth and pick her some wild roses.

what he didn’t know was once he left the Spirit World, he can never go back.

And now every night, he looks up at the sky, sees the moon and howls her name.

He is the wolf…

  1. I can’t believe I’m not the only one who’s heard that story.
The reason moon is so sad because she kept waiting for someone that never showed.
All generation of wolves howl up at the moon. They are called the prisoners of the moon. Even though wolf got a chance to start a new life. He never really left moon behind. This becoming her prisoner.

  4. The Wolverine’s girlfriend tells him this story in the ‘Wolverine: X-Men Origin’ to help calm his restless mind.

Everytime I hear the story it reminds me with such force all the things we want that want us too but somehow we can’t have!

    It’s such a sad story.
